Alzheimer's and Dementia Care
Dementia describes a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain. It is not one specific disease.
Dementia affects thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Brain function is affected enough to interfere with the person’s normal social or working life.
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and degenerative disease and is the most common form of dementia. More than half of all diagnosed Alzheimer's patients continue to live in home settings.
Caring an Alzheimer's patient at home brings certain advantages such as keeping the patient in familiar frame of reference, giving the patient freedom to move about in a familiar space, minimising stress which can aggravate the symptoms of Alzheimer's and dementia and being able to continue familiar daily routines and schedules.
However, continuously caring for a person who has developed Alzheimer’s disease, or another form of dementia can take a significant toll on the carer's physical and emotional well-being. If your loved one is affected from dementia, Sensible Care offers professional help with its carers' extensive dementia training and ample expertise.
We are conscious about the progressive nature of dementia and will work with you to create a flexible care and support plan which adopts to the patient's changing needs. Our care team carefully monitors any changes from cognitive abilities to food intake and sensitively create a positive environment. We consciously focus on the activities that the patient is still able to do with an aim to maximise the patient's abilities and maintain their independence and dignity.
